Never underestimate the power of words!
Each and every time you receive a flier or promo material, a charity letter or notification of an event or offer, you can be sure that the words and phrase used have been chosen for a reason.
One of the first things you might notice is the constant use of "you" in the text. The writer does this to develop a personal relationship with you and goes on to use repetition of ideas, short sentences and positive language to engage you, the reader, so that you continue to move on through the text.
At the end of the text a simple instruction or piece of key information will be given - a call to action to the reader.
This will be repeated, either word for word or variations on the key idea ( 3 times is highly effective) and the text centred, emboldened or set against a significant amount of white space for effect.
This is highly effective as the reader finds that they are taken along with no natural ending and the promise of key information, which of course is not accessible unless you read to the end.
Do have a look at the next piece of unsolicited mail and notice the techniques used.
So now that you know about these powerful techniques, how do they relate to you and your everyday life? How can you use these to your best advantage?
The main thing is to be positive and speak and write as though what you say is actually happening. Speak in the present eg I exercise everyday, and avoid the use of "I try" I try to exercise every day.
Speak about events etc in the now and definitely DO NOT use the word try...
You can do it!

The Shower of Confidence
Bath or shower? Which do you prefer? Does it depend on what you want to do with the rest of the day, or how you feel...?
Baths have become something of a luxury; something of a treat or a special occasion; something to do at the end of a difficult day to soak away all your aches and pains. By the time you have luxuriated in a bath you may be so relaxed that all you want to do is go to sleep.
Some people do their thinking in the bath; they put their world to rights before the end of the day, go to bed unburdened and awake refreshed.
Nowadays, however, the majority of people have showers rather than baths - for all sorts of reasons: cheaper, quicker, more refreshing etc
You might not spend long in the shower but use the time to your advantage:
The shower can be the perfect place for a few well chosen affirmations, especially at the start of the day; words that will get you off to a good start and enable you to achieve your potential.
Use the following, or create your own:
Say the affirmations in your head, say them out loud, or put them to the tune of your favourite song. It doesn't really matter - just be confident.
Alternatively, as the water flows over your body, imagine that the water is washing away all your troubles, fears and negative feelings. Imagine that the water droplets are tiny words representing your negative feelings and watch as they disappear down the drain. Then imagine that the water droplets coming from the shower head are all positive words and notice how they make you feel as they wash over your body.
The more often you do this, the easier it will become and you will soon be able to benefit from your Shower of Confidence.

100 Days without Chocolate, Toffee or Haribos!
It's official: on Easter Monday I reached 100 days without chocolate, toffee or Haribos!
In fact it has been remarkably easy so far to resist all temptation. I have absolutely no interest in, or desire for, chocolate. The self hypnosis and EFT which I used at the end of December are still going strong. I haven't done anything extra - although it would take only minutes to do. My subconscious has accepted that I no longer need chocolate to survive and I can't say that I miss it at all.
With this, however, has come an unexpected problem: I can't function in the sweet shop or sweet aisle in the supermarket. Not ideal when there were Easter eggs to be bought.
On the rare occasion I have been asked to pick up sweets or chocolate for other members of my family it has been almost impossible to buy the correct items.
I'll try to explain...
Imagine being in a foreign country, one where the alphabet is different so that you can't pick up any clues about the items you want to buy. Now imagine going into a shop there to buy a simple item and finding that everything in the shop looks similar and you can't work out what is what from the packaging.
That's how it is in the sweetshop. I can see the different bars of chocolate, but actually finding the chocolate I have been asked to buy is almost impossible. Luckily I didn't have too many eggs to buy or I would probably still be in the shop...
Hypnotherapy is a fantastic tool for overcoming unwanted habits - I used it for my obsession with chocolate, toffee and Haribos - but it is equally effective for smoking cessation, nailbiting, drinking, or teeth grinding, to name but a few.
Whatever your habit, hypnotherapy can help, and for many unwanted habits the problem can be cleared in just one or two sessions.
Remember that a habit is just a learned response; the brain can be retrained to reject that learned response.
Don't delay! Take action today and put a stop to those unwanted habits.

Spring Cleaning
We have had a very odd few weeks of weather, I'm sure you will agree - a few days of biting cold, some days dull and overcast, a flurry of snow here and there, and now and again, like today, a beautiful Spring day...
There is no doubt that as soon as the sun comes out and the days lengthen that many people find a renewed joy in life. The opportunity to cast off heavy coats and boots, to actually feel warm air against your skin has an almost magical effect on the senses. You will notice people smiling more, walking with purpose, beginning to enjoy life...
Spring Cleaning is still the time for many people to take stock of their homes: to clean, to organise, to renew and replace.
It is also the time when we reflect on our life, and set about making changes, whether that is in the relationships we have, or in our lifestyle, or the way we want to live our life.
Sometimes a change can be something very small, perhaps remembering to focus on what you have, rather than what you don't have; sometimes it is life changing and immediate such as ending a negative relationship or moving house or changing jobs. Sometimes it is a shift in attitude or action which will have a profound and longterm effect.
Whatever you need to do, no matter how daunting, it is down to you as an individual to take action, to make the first move, to be proactive.
Remember: If you always do what you have always done, you will invariably get the same ( disappointing?) results.
Spring Clean your life today and see what a difference it makes!

No Smoking Day 2012 coming soon...
No Smoking Day 2012
How many cigarettes do you buy each week? At what cost?
Well, if you are a 20 per day smoker you consume approximately 140 per week ( give or take the cigs you give to your mates and the cigs they give to you) - at around £6 per 20 that 's £42 per week and £168 per month...

£2000+ PER YEAR! EVERY YEAR! £2000+ PER YEAR!
What value do you put on a healthier life with renewed energy, better skin, improved tastebuds... every day... for the rest of your life?

Save Money; Save Your Life; Make up your mind to QUIT today!
And if you are still not convinced, try googling "amputee smoker" - the image that I have used successfully with young people who are not convinced by the healthy life/ better skin/ financial argument.
The image really is too disturbing to put here, but it is of a middle aged male smoker who had had all four of his limbs amputated as a result of his addiction.
Luckily for him, he had a "friend" on the ward who fashioned a cigarette holder from a coat hanger so that he could continue to smoke...

If you are lucky enough to have a Mum, whether that’s your Birth Mum or someone who fills that role for you, make sure that you tell her how much she means to you every single day.
Show her that you care.
Remember that it is the little things that count – a smile, a Thank You, a cup of tea, a hug…
